Security.
Information about how Wurding protects its proprietary dictionary data, ensures user privacy, and detects unauthorised extraction.
100% Offline Operation
Wurding operates completely offline. No network requests are made:
- Dictionary data is embedded in the extension
- All word lookups happen locally on your device
- No words you look up are ever sent to any server
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No external fonts, CDNs, or third-party resources
Data Protection
Wurding's dictionary represents years of research, curation, and development. We employ multiple layers of protection:
Encryption
- All embedded dictionary data files are encrypted at rest
- Per-file unique encryption keys derived via SHA-256
Proprietary Markers (Trade Secret)
Wurding's dictionary contains embedded proprietary marker entries used for the detection of unauthorised data extraction. Per established trade secret practice, the specific markers, their fingerprints, and their patterns are not publicly disclosed.
Markers are designed such that the probability of an independent party independently producing them is statistically impossible. They are distributed across multiple categories of dictionary data and embedded in ways that resist removal without specialised knowledge of their structure.
Detection & Enforcement

Wurding reserves all rights with respect to its proprietary dictionary, including the right to identify and pursue unauthorised extraction or redistribution of its data through civil and, where applicable, criminal channels.
Legal Notice
Wurding's dictionary, proprietary markers, fingerprinting methodology, and curation processes are protected as:
- Trade secrets — maintained in confidence and of independent economic value
- Copyright — original compilation and creative selection
- Proprietary methodology — specific to Wurding's implementation
Unauthorised extraction, reproduction, or redistribution of Wurding's dictionary data may give rise to civil liability (including actual, statutory, and punitive damages and injunctive relief) and, in applicable jurisdictions, criminal liability.
